COTE Korean Steakhouse is a haven for wine and beef lovers

When New York’s famed COTE NYC Flatiron first opened in 2017, its road to success was thanks to founder Simon Kim’s ingenious marriage of Korean barbeque and American steakhouse sensibilities – thus pioneering the Korean steakhouse concept.

They have now brought that winning formula to Singapore – their first international outpost and third venue after a second outlet in Miami – making its debut at the ritzy COMO Orchard. Opened in partnership with the COMO Group, it’s little wonder why COTE Korean Steakhouse in Singapore is already one of the city’s buzziest openings this year.

It’s a really vibey place. Interiors are dark, modern and seductive. Staff are snappy and well-dressed. The table settings and inlaid barbeque equipment are decidedly upmarket. If you’re looking for a place to dress up for a fun night out, this is one of those places to go to.

First timers here should order The Butcher’s Feast (S$98 per person). The set menu is a showcase of four different cuts of beef (some dry-aged in-house), served alongside housemade banchan, stews, rice, salad, and more. Dessert, a vanilla soft serve, is also included.

Ala carte items and a steak omakase are also on the dining menu. From USDA Prime beef to Australian wagyu and Japanese A5 wagyu items, the carnivores among you are in store for a feast you won’t soon forget.

At COTE, well-trained staff cook tableside for guests. So don’t worry about getting your hands dirty. We also really appreciate that the state-of-the-art charcoal grills are near smoke-free. We all know how smoke-filled restaurants can ruin an experience.

To accompany the feast is a sublime, comprehensive wine list the likes of which we haven’t seen in a while. With over 700 labels and counting stored at their on-site wine cellar, you’ll be spoiled for choice even if you have a penchant for specific regions, varietals or styles.

While wine is the natural choice, there are lots more imbibing options available. From premium sojus to digestifs, classic cocktails to high-end reserve cocktails, there are lots to discover.

You can also choose to park yourself at the bar should you be so inclined. It’s given a different identity from COTE, called Millim bar, and it’s actually the first space you encounter upon arriving at the sprawling venue. It’s a great spot to have pre-dinner tipples or to hang around further with drink in hand after a meaty feast.

Will COTE Korean Steakhouse in Singapore attain a Michelin star like it did in New York? Honestly, we’ll be too busy having fun wining and dining at COTE that the accolade doesn’t really matter.

It’s one of those places where you’ll be having such a good time, enveloped by good vibes, that time will simply pass by in the blink of an eye. To us, that is a marker of success that means more than any award could ever convey.

COTE Korean Steakhouse Singapore is located at 30 Bideford Road, COMO Orchard Level 3, Singapore 229922.
