Bruichladdich releases highly limited single cask bottling in Singapore

Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315

Fans of Bruichladdich will know of their highly limited Micro Provenance Single Cask bottlings. The annual release is highly anticipated for its ability to explore the nuanced characteristics of individual casks within the 141-year-old Islay distillery.

In this second release of the series in Southeast Asia, Singapore has been allocated one of only 20 single casks spread across 10 countries in 2022, a significant step up from the previous allocation of half a cask.

From that allocation comes the Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Cask 0315, a 2011 vintage bottled at the cask strength of 65.2% ABV. Unpeated and aged in second-fill Syrah casks for 10 years, only a total of 282 bottles are available.

Bruichladdich’s Head Distiller Adam Hannett hand selects the barrels slated for Micro Provenance each year, and only a handful out of 200 distinctive cask types resting at Bruichladdich Distillery’s coastal warehouses are chosen. It is his task to ensure that the flavour profile of each release in the Micro Provenance range is one-of-a-kind and unprecedented.

“At Bruichladdich, my role is to guide and shape these whiskies to express their provenance and terroir, rather than try to wrestle the variation into a narrow yet consistent band of flavour,” says Hannett.

“Experimenting with age, storage location, cask type, and other variables translates into the highly unique characteristics in our casks – full of character, flair and attitude.”

The Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315, being a Singapore exclusive, features a label artwork unique to it, that of Singapore’s national symbol, the red Merlion head, on all its bottles.

If you’re looking to taste before you buy, top whisky bars in Singapore such as The Cooperage, Malts, and The Writing Club are offering it by the dram. Cooperage in particular will be offering a special flight of three Bruichladdich single malts, including The Classic Laddie, Islay Barley, and the Bruichladdich Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315 for S$50.

Bottles of the Micro Provenance Single Cask 0315 will also be available over the bar counter at a price of S$380 each.
