Burger & Lobster launches limited-edition lobster beer to mark 10th anniversary

Lobster Beer

When it comes to craft beer brewing ingredients, nothing seems to be off the table. From unusual but still reasonable items like chilli and ice cream, to out of this world ones like whale testicles and yeast grown on a man’s beard, the only limit is the brewer’s imagination.

So when London phenomenon Burger & Lobster decided to launch a Lobster Saison (5.2% ABV) in Singapore in celebration of their 10th birthday, we were rather intrigued. After all, when it comes to shellfish, oyster stouts are already making waves among avid craft beer drinkers.

The Lobster Saison is a lobster shell-infused brew made in collaboration with Singapore brewers Off Day Beer Company, with the Nova Scotian lobster shells provided by Burger & Lobster.

To make the beer, the shells are steeped together with the usual beer ingredients of barley malt, wheat, hops, and yeast, as well as adjuncts like lemon zest, tarragon, and black pepper, resulting in a brew packed with ocean minerality and a mild sweetness reminiscent of fresh lobster.

The Lobster Saison is great on its own, but versatile enough to be paired with food too.

Besides its lobster elements, which are actually rather subtle, the beer’s saison backbone is solid too. Crisp, spiced, and floral, the Lobster Saison is aromatic and enjoyable by itself, yet light and balanced enough to be paired with heavy comfort foods, such as those Burger & Lobster serves.

Try it while you can. The limited-edition Lobster Saison (S$17/bottle) is available at both Burger & Lobster outlets in Singapore, located at Raffles Hotel and Jewel Changi Airport.
