Meant to appeal to a newer generation of drinkers looking for a more accessible beer, the Heineken Silver is a lower ABV (4%), less bitter (10 IBUs) take on the classic Heineken lager.
The Silver version is brewed using all the same ingredients as the original, differing only in the ice-cold lagering process it employs. According to Heineken, by brewing it at a sub-zero -1°C, “more cold haze is allowed to form and be filtered out”.
It also “removes proteins and rough-tasting tannins, leaving a delightfully refreshing taste that’s accessible and easy to drink”. They’ve also described the beer as having a “less bitter taste and a crisp, subtle finish that’s effortless to drink”.
Those in Singapore looking to have a taste of it themselves need look no further than the Smooooth Warehouse Party. A S$40 ticket grants entry to the revelry, where retro arcade machines, food trucks and upbeat sounds by an international line-up of music artists the likes of Flight Facilities, Palms Trax, and Ice Cream Sundays will keep you occupied.
The direction of the kick-off party is indicative of Heineken Silver’s target Gen Z demographic. States Gerald Yeo, marketing director at Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore: “…Heineken Silver is set to unleash a slew of exciting activities over the coming months, bringing the very best in music, taste, and fashion together, as it inspires a new generation to refresh their perspective, spark meaningful connections and embrace their individuality.”
Starting late-June, Heineken Silver (RRP S$20.95 for a six-pack) will be made available at leading supermarkets, convenience stores, and online retailers, as well as at select bars and restaurants.
Tickets (S$40; inclusive of two drinks) to the Heineken Silver Smooooth Warehouse Party held at Pasir Panjang Power Station on 15 June, 2022 are available online.
