Hendrick’s teams up with Smoke & Mirrors for a moonlit Lunar Gin event

Hendrick's Lunar Gin

The next whimsical concoction from Hendrick’s Gin’s Cabinet of Curiosities, the Lunar Gin, has arrived on Singapore’s shores.

As evident in the name, this second limited edition release in the range (after last year’s Midsummer Solstice) is an ode to the mysterious, illuminating moon. And what better place to hark the Lunar Gin’s arrival than at the equally illusive Smoke & Mirrors.

The moonlit rooftop bar located on the terraces of the National Gallery is throwing a Cocktails & Moonbathing experience that’s happening till Jan 29, 2022. Get ready for a cosmic experience with three Lunar Gin concoctions, three lunar-inspired bar bites, and even a moonbathing kit bestowed upon those who manage to imbibe all three special cocktails.

Of the drinks, the Lunar Pixie is the one to start with. This refreshing cocktail brings out the herbal, botanical notes of the Lunar Gin well, and tastes of familiar lychee and wolfberry notes. Then go for the Elixir of Legolas, which pays homage to the most famous elf in cinema, for a citrusy, piney tipple. Then there’s the Harvest Moon, a gin sour that explodes with herbaceousness and slight vegetal tones with every sip.

Have all three cocktails in one sitting and receive the moonbathing kit (while stocks last). Each kit is filled with thematic oddities including a moonbathing balm, moonbathing mat and moon goggles, all tucked into a collectible Hendrick’s Lunar Gin tote bag.

If you’d rather get a bottle of Lunar Gin to be enjoyed in the comforts of your own home, you’ll find it in retail at places like Cold Storage, Cellarbration, Lazada, and more.

The Lunar Gin itself is a curious work by Hendrick’s Gin’s master distiller Lesley Gracie. It was under the influence of moonlight, during a spot of midnight gardening in her beloved hothouse, where she was inspired to create this gin.

“With Hendrick’s Lunar Gin, there is the warmth of some of the botanicals, like being wrapped up warm and snug in the evening,” she says. “There is the rich aroma of night scented flowers and in the background there, you can just about make out the refreshing burst of citrus.

“It’s not bright and in your face like the midday sun, it’s calm, chilled and subtle. Like I say, it’s a feeling. There is something magical about the sky at night and sharing that experience with those closest to you, and this gin wraps that sensation up in a glass.”

The Cocktails & Moonbathing experience at Smoke & Mirrors runs from now till Jan 29, 2022. Hendrick’s Lunar Gin is available in retail, online, and at participating bars such as 51 Soho, Featherblade, and Tantric.
