After a big global push in 2021 with their ‘Golden State of Mind’ brand campaign that showcased the innovation and sustainability focus of California winemakers, the California Wine Institute (CWI) is taking a more on-the-ground approach with their 2022 initiative in Singapore.
Encouraging one and all to taste the goods for themselves is the very first California Wine Month, where for an entire month (and then some), partner restaurants and retailers will be highlighting selected Californian wines at their respective venues.
The message is that there is always a Californian wine for any moment or occasion, and the CWI is getting that across by collaborating with establishments the likes of Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore, Rosemead, La Dame de Pic, Shang Palace, and Origin Grill & Bar for wine and dine experiences.
At steak specialists Lawry’s for instance, a limited-time California Wine Flight (S$45) is being made available throughout the month of June (except June 18 and 19). The flight will comprise three 100ml pours – 2018 Round Hill Chardonnay, 2018 Rodney Strong Pinot Noir, and the 2018 Lander Jenkins Cabernet Sauvignon – that go well with their range of fine American cuisine.
Just for the occasion, Lawry’s will be offering a special Grand Californian 4-Course Set menu (S$129 per person) as well. While not exactly a pairing, items like their famed Spinning Bowl Salad complements the chardonnay, while the Signature Roasted USDA Prime Rib of Beef and the cab sauv are a match made in heaven.
In line with the ‘for any moment or occasion’ missive, retailers RedMart and FairPrice are also onboard with California Wine Month. Till July 5 (in time for 4th of July), expect over 270 Cali wines to be featured on the former’s platform, while till June 16, the latter will be showcasing vinos from various Californian wine regions.
Whether you’re already a Cali wine lover or someone still getting to know wines from places like Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and Los Carneros, there’s bound to be something for the oenophile in you at California Wine Month.
