Local gin distillery Tanglin releases Singapore’s first orange liqueur

Tanglin Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur

Singapore’s Tanglin distillery, best known for their gins, has unveiled its latest creation, the Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur, bottled at 38% ABV.

The first of its kind in Singapore, its main ingredients include a blend of mandarin oranges, calamansi, and kaffir lime leaves, all distilled with the same neutral grain spirit used when making its gins. The result is an orange liqueur with a distinctly local twist.

Tanglin has created the Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur with the goal of localizing all core components of Singapore’s national cocktail, the Singapore Sling. Bartenders can now use this liqueur instead of Cointreau or Triple Sec.

Of course, the Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur is not just limited to the Singapore Sling. It can also be used in other classic cocktails such as the Margarita, Cosmopolitan, and the French 75. They have also recommended adding it to a regular Gin & Tonic to give it a local flair.

According to Mark Wee, a representative of Tanglin, the Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur makes for a “sweet, citrus-forward digestif with kaffir lime on the nose and notes of mandarin oranges on the palate.”

The liqueur retails at S$80 a bottle and is available at the Tanglin Gin Jungle located at 26B Dempsey Road. Over the coming months, the Triple Tangerine Mandarin Orange Liqueur will also be available in various bars, hotels, restaurants, and retail locations.

Tanglin has been experimenting with distilling Singapore gins since 2018. In addition to the award-winning Tanglin Singapore Gin, the brand has also released the Black Powder Gin, which became Singapore’s first Double Gold Winner at The San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
