Premium bourbon brand Woodford Reserve is once again gathering bars in Asia for a season of whiskey-filled celebrations as part of Old Fashioned Month.
Bars in Singapore and Malaysia took part in an Asia-wide bartending competition where they were tasked to come up with their own creative rendition of the Old Fashioned cocktail, using Woodford Reserve bourbon as a base.
Judges – including Brown Forman Asia marketing director Christian Ozzati, Europe & Emerging International advocacy director Nidal Ramini, and Asia ambassador Holly Graham – then evaluated each entry based on taste, creativity, and how they showcased the Woodford Reserve brand before arriving at 10 finalists from each market.

From contestants such as Singapore’s Daniel Fong from Potato Head and Edwin Lopez from Burnt Ends, to Malaysia’s Tett Hin Lim from Baobae Penang and Beeyee Ng from Tiga Bar, the lineup of talents and bars represented some of the top names in the scene.
For Singapore’s contenders, it will all culminate in a grand finale taking place on Nov 5 at Plume. The vibrant cocktail hotspot located at Pan Pacific Singapore will host these local top bartenders as they compete using their Old Fashioned creations in hopes to impress the judges once again.

Malaysia’s contenders will then compete in their leg of the competition come Nov 26 (details pending). Once finalised, winners from each country will then vie for the top accolade in Asia, where bragging rights and the grand prize of a trip to the Woodford Reserve Distillery in the US awaits.
Until then, these special takes on the whiskey classic are available for all to imbibe at the respective bars. In Singapore, there will even be special curated tours taking place on Oct 24 and 25 that bring guests on a bar hop to selected bars, with transportation provided between each stop.
Head to their website for more information on the curated bar tours, or head over to the official Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Month page for details on the event.
